Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Why Try Acupuncture?

  • It works
  • There are no bad side effects  (unlike the side effects of medications and surgery)
  • It fixes the problem rather than just covering it up
  • Prevents disease

2. Does it hurt?

Many people don’t know the difference between an acupuncture needle and a hypodermic needle.  A hypodermic needle, the kind used when you get a shot, is very large, with a hole in the middle.  An acupuncture needle is fine like a hair, with no hole in the middle.  When acupuncture needles are inserted, it causes the nervous system to calm down and the body to release endorphins.  Endorphins have been shown to reduce pain, stress, and feelings of frustration and irritability, regulate the production of growth and sex hormones, and control cravings for chocolate and other substances.  When endorphins are released, the feelings can be described as: peaceful, blissful, euphoric, optimistic, and joyful.  One of our patients calls it the “acupuncture high.”  This helps with stress, healing from an illness, abating pain, and preventing aging.

3. Is it safe?

Acupuncturists must go through rigorous schooling similar to a medical doctor before qualifying to sit for the Board exam.  Needles are sterilized and used only once before disposal in a biohazard container.

The best way to assess your acupuncturist’s knowledge, commitment, and rapport is to schedule a consultation.

4. Is it enjoyable?

Most of our patients fall asleep in treatment.  The endorphin release and also helping the body relax and heal are two reasons.  Also, all of our rooms are private, warm, and you listen to soothing music as you rest, and we also offer a nice heat lamp for the feet, neck, or back.

5. Will insurance cover this?

It depends on your coverage.  With 10 years medical billing experience, it is best to bring in your card so we may verify your coverage.  We also have payment options, and monthly plans.

6. How do I get started?

Please call: 949-276-7222 to schedule.  We have hours to accommodate all schedules.

It is my hope that each person out there suffering with any medical condition makes an appointment with an acupuncturist, to experience the wonders and capabilities of this ancient medicine.  If it only just aided you to overcome a stubborn medical condition, eliminated chronic symptoms, helped you lose weight, or gave you peace from stress, or helped you become a better parent to your children, wouldn’t it be worth it?

7. What if I am not in southern California?

Phone consultations are available, and are useful to establish your health history, or also for the weight loss program, which can be coached from any area.
